Victory Traditions

The Russia national hockey team beat the Canadian team, its archrival since the Soviet times, 2:1 in the final of the World Hockey Championship that took place in May in Switzerland, thus protecting its title as the world’s strongest team. Russia also won the title last year, when it defeated ‘the hockey inventors’ on their own soil. 

Following the existing victory traditions, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev invited the triumphant national hockey team to the Kremlin, where he congratulated the players and their managers with brilliant performances in the World Championship and for displaying unparallel will for victory. “This was an outstanding victory, and I am proud of our national hockey team that won all their matches in the competitions.”
